Lamain Voyages
Padar Island by private yacht
Updated 27 October 2026
Padar is a 25 to 45 minute climb to a viewpoint over three bays, early in the morning on day 2 of the Lamain routes. There are no dragons on Padar. Sturdy shoes matter on the loose, steep path, and the climb is optional for guests who stay aboard.
The ridge climb in minutes, not promises
Padar is the ridge walk: from the top, three bays show sand of different colours. The main viewpoint is 25 to 45 minutes up, with the upper ridge further on. The path is loose and steep in parts, so the stop is rated moderate and suits any guest who is steady on rough ground.
Padar is on every Lamain route: day 2 of the 2D1N, the 3D2N and the 4D3N, and the first stop of the 1D.

Leaving the yacht before sunrise
For a sunrise climb, guests leave the yacht about 65 minutes before the sun is up, and a headtorch helps on the way. Sunrise at Padar falls at 05:31 in November and at 06:18 in July, so the start moves with the month.
The captain sets the time. Where the yacht spends the night before depends on the weather and the captain's decision that day, so the departure from the yacht is confirmed the evening before and not weeks ahead.
Tell the party at dinner, not at breakfast. Guests who want the sunrise can then sleep early, and guests who do not can wake at a civil hour and meet the others on the way down.
Strong legs ahead, slower guests behind, one deck to wait on
A party of ten to sixteen strings itself out along the path. Fast walkers reach the top in about 25 minutes, the slowest take closer to 45, and everyone meets at the viewpoint before anyone starts down.
Shoes with grip matter more than anything else you pack, and a bottle of water goes in every hand. The climb is optional. Guests who stay aboard keep the yacht to themselves: Voyage 1 has a foredeck with sun pads and Voyage 2 a deck with an L-shaped sofa.
A family with three generations on board will find the same logic on the family page.
Padar from the water
In photographs taken from above, Padar is a jagged green ridge with curved white beaches below it. The yacht sees it from the water first; the climb gives the view over the three bays.
The park ticket is not in the fare. It is IDR 250,000 for foreign guests, IDR 50,000 for Indonesian guests on weekdays and IDR 75,000 at weekends, per person. KEXI's park package covers the government entrance ticket (IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, PP 36/2024), the ranger and the local levies, paid on top of the boat price unless your quote says it is included.
The 3D2N page shows where Padar falls in the whole route, and the park fees page explains what a party pays.

FAQ
How long is the Padar climb?
About 25 to 45 minutes to the main viewpoint, depending on fitness and the heat; the upper ridge takes longer. In a party of ten to sixteen the walkers spread out, so plan a wait at the top and agree a meeting point before the climb starts.
Can grandparents climb Padar?
Guests who are steady on a steep, loose path can; the climb is optional and the stop is rated moderate. Older guests can climb part of the way or stay aboard, where the yacht remains theirs. Give us the ages in the brief and we plan the morning around them.
What time do we leave the yacht for sunrise?
Guests leave about 65 minutes before sunrise, which falls between 05:31 and 06:18 through the year. The captain sets the exact time on the evening before, because weather decides where the yacht lies that night.
