A private Komodo Island tour from your yacht

Updated 27 October 2026

Komodo Island is a ranger-led walk to see wild dragons from your own yacht. Komodo dragons are wild; the park cannot guarantee a sighting. It sits on day 2 of the private 2D1N and 3D2N, and on the 1D route. Closed shoes are required and the park ticket is not in the fare.

Rangers and a party strung out along the trail

Komodo Island is the walk among wild dragons, always with a park ranger. The dragons are wild, so a sighting is never promised; the walk and the ranger are.

Trails start at the Loh Liang station, and the ranger sets the pace for the whole party. A principal travelling with an elderly relative or a young child should say so in the brief, so that the shorter trail is the plan and not a concession on the day.

The yacht is private. The trail is not: it lies inside the national park, and other visitors can be on it.

The ranger picks the trail, not the schedule

Short, medium and long trails start at the Loh Liang station. The ranger chooses the trail, 45 to 120 minutes, and the morning is the usual window.

On the 2D1N and the 3D2N the walk follows Padar and Pink Beach on day 2; on the 1D route it comes after the same two stops. The captain fixes the landing time that morning, with the order of the other stops.

Rangers decide what is safe on the trail, and their word ends a walk.

Island names on a private route and a shared one

Komodo Island is on the private 1D, 2D1N and 3D2N routes of both yachts. It is not on the 4D3N. Voyage 2 names Rinca on day 1 of its 4D3N, and its open-trip 3D2N lists Rinca on day 1 and no Komodo Island at all.

So the island you walk depends on the route you hire. If a dragon walk matters to the principal, say so when you ask for the quote, and choose the 2D1N or the 3D2N. We then confirm in writing which island and which walk the route includes.

Details of each length are on the 2D1N, 3D2N and 4D3N pages.

Shoes, sun cover and the ticket

Closed shoes are required on the walk. Add long sleeves or sunscreen, because the trails cross dry savanna with little shade.

The park ticket is never part of the fare. It is IDR 250,000 for foreign guests, IDR 50,000 for Indonesian guests on weekdays and IDR 75,000 at weekends, per person. KEXI's park package covers the government entrance ticket (IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, PP 36/2024), the ranger and the local levies. It is added to the boat price, unless your quote shows it as included.

Fees for the whole party are explained on the park fees page, and the charter page shows what the yacht itself costs.

FAQ

Will you see a Komodo dragon?

Komodo dragons are wild animals, and the park cannot guarantee a sighting. A ranger leads every walk and knows where the animals have been resting.

What should I do if a dragon approaches?

Stay beside your ranger and follow the instruction given on the spot. Keep the party together, stay on the trail and tell the ranger at once if a guest feels unwell. Nobody enters the trails without a ranger, and the ranger decides when a walk ends.

How long is the Komodo Island walk?

The ranger chooses the trail, 45 to 120 minutes. Short, medium and long trails all start at the Loh Liang station.
