Three generations, one yacht in Komodo
Updated 27 October 2026
A three-generation party of up to 16 can charter a whole Lamain yacht. For 14 guests on 3D2N, Voyage 1 is IDR 153,000,000 (≈ USD 9,387) and Voyage 2 IDR 220,000,000 (≈ USD 13,497), per yacht. The Padar climb is optional; park fees are extra.
A family of fourteen: the limits, stated first
Voyage 1 reaches 14 only with extra beds. Its six suites sleep 12 on queen beds, and the 13th and 14th guests take the extra singles in Osaka and Athena, the two suites that pair a queen bed with a single. Voyage 2 has eight suites, 16 guests and no extra beds.
Padar and Komodo both involve walking, and anyone may sit either out. The Padar climb takes about 25 to 45 minutes on a path that is loose and steep in places; staying on board costs nothing from the fare. Komodo Island is a ranger-led walk, and every walker needs closed shoes. Komodo dragons are wild; the park cannot guarantee a sighting.
The crew lists run to 8 on Voyage 1 and 13 on Voyage 2.
Which generation takes which suite
Suite assignment on Voyage 1, fourteen guests. Paris, the main-deck master with a queen bed and the jacuzzi balcony, goes to the two heads of the family. Athena and Osaka take three each on a queen bed and an extra single, which suits a parent with a child. Bern, on the lower deck, sleeps up to four and is the natural place for children with a carer. Praha and Venice, two identical queen suites, take the remaining couples. With Bern at two, fourteen adds up as 2 + 3 + 3 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 14.
On Voyage 2. Borobudur, the upper-deck master with a king bed and the only jacuzzi balcony on the yacht, and Eiffel, the other upper-deck king suite, go to the senior generation. Every other suite has a queen bed for two, on the main or lower deck. Fourteen guests use seven of the eight, and there is no extra bed for a child.
At sixteen, Voyage 1 puts four in Bern and uses every extra bed, while Voyage 2 fills every suite at two.
Three days at the pace of the slowest walker
Day 1 starts with the pickup in Labuan Bajo. Kelor is a short, steep hill walk of 15 to 30 minutes followed by a swim; Menjerite Point is for snorkelling; and at Kalong, about 15 minutes after sunset, the family watches the bats leave from the yacht.
Padar, on day 2, is a choice: climbers go ashore with shoes and water, and everyone else stays on deck. Pink Beach is a swim in shallow water, followed by the ranger walk at Komodo Island. The day ends at Taka Makassar, a sandbar, and Manta Point, where a current runs and the drift is guided; we advise a life jacket for anyone who is not a confident swimmer.
Day 3 is Sebayur, a swim and snorkel, and the return to Labuan Bajo at a time confirmed in writing. The three-day charter page has the full table. Weather and current set the order of the stops, and the captain fixes it each morning.
What 14 and 16 guests pay
| Guests | Voyage 1, whole yacht, 2026 rates | Voyage 1 per person | Voyage 2, whole yacht, 2026 rates | Voyage 2 per person |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 14 | IDR 153,000,000 (≈ USD 9,387) | IDR 10,930,000 (≈ USD 671) | IDR 220,000,000 (≈ USD 13,497) | IDR 15,710,000 (≈ USD 964) |
| 16 | IDR 166,000,000 (≈ USD 10,184) | IDR 10,380,000 (≈ USD 637) | IDR 220,000,000 (≈ USD 13,497) | IDR 13,750,000 (≈ USD 844) |
For 14 guests, Voyage 1 is the base rate plus two extra guests at IDR 6,500,000 (≈ USD 399) each. Voyage 2 charges a single rate from the 11th guest to the 16th, so each share at 16 is lower than at 14. Children under 3 travel free when accompanied. Park tickets, flights and gratuities are paid on top, and a guide or a photographer is quoted separately.
Ages, mobility and diets: the family brief
A family file is built on a short list, which we ask for in the first message or soon after.
- The age of each child, and who will be their carer on board.
- Anyone with limited mobility, and which stops they will skip.
- Allergies and diets for each guest, passed to the crew before sailing.
- Arrival flights, so the pickup in Labuan Bajo is exact.
- Suite assignment: who sleeps where, from the plan above.
Meals each day are included, and the menu follows the diets you send. In confidence: the guest list, with the names and ages of children, goes to the booking office and the crew list for the sailing permit, and nowhere else. A yacht that cannot sail is replaced by one of the same class, as the booking terms set out.
FAQ
Is Komodo safe for families and first-time yacht guests?
The yachts carry life jackets, life rafts, fire extinguishers and a first-aid kit, and the Komodo Island walk runs with a park ranger. Travel and medical insurance is recommended and is not in the fare.
What should families know before booking a yacht in Komodo?
Both yachts take 16. Voyage 1 reaches 14 and 16 only with extra beds; Voyage 2 has none. Park tickets are paid per guest on top of the fare, and the guide is available on request.
Is a private yacht trip in Komodo National Park safe?
Walks at Komodo Island are made with a ranger and in closed shoes, and the captain sets the route by weather and current. Both yachts carry life rafts, life buoys, radios and AIS.
How physically demanding is the Padar climb for grandparents?
The climb to the main viewpoint takes about 25 to 45 minutes on a loose, steep path. It is optional. A grandparent who stays aboard loses nothing from the charter; the yacht waits at the anchorage.
